Products & Services Practice Lead

At MAYA, we believe keeping people at the center of the design process makes what we create truly valuable. We are currently seeking a Products & Services Practice Lead to grow our portfolio of projects and expand our client base for MAYA’s interdisciplinary teams of designers, engineers and human scientists. You should be an experienced design professional who has employed a human-centered and iterative way of working in previous positions. You must be able to think both creatively and strategically to get to the best solution for a client while producing compelling work we’re proud to share. The ability to build a good rapport with prospective clients to expand our practice is a must as is your willingness to jump into project work as needed. 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Connect the development of the Products & Services Practice with the company’s strategy, goals, and objectives
  • Act as MAYA’s representative for this practice to the rest of the world, which may include: networking, public speaking, attending industry events, writing content and any other activities that could build awareness for MAYA and attract new clients
  • Develop a clear understanding of what differentiates MAYA’s vision and mission from our competitors and be able to articulate it to internal and external audiences 
  • Attract new leads and close deals 
  • Create opportunities for Products & Services Practice clients to see the value in MAYA’s other service offerings 
  • Share responsibility for quality/profit balance for projects within the practice with MAYA  senior leadership 
  • Evaluate and represent the needs of the practice to MAYA senior leadership
  • Develop systems, processes, and tools as required to improve quality output and business profitability within the practice
  • Determine the appropriate staff needed to grow the practice and manage professional development and retention efforts 
  • Ensure project teams are interdisciplinary in nature (i.e., engage MAYAns in other practice areas and disciplines)
  • Actively participate in project work as needed


Requirements:

  • 10 years of experience designing or building innovative and thoughtful products and/or services to improve experiences
  • 5 years of management experience
  • A deep understanding of UX, UI, and evidence-based user-centered design
  • Demonstrated experience in business development (lead generation, qualification, project scoping, and closing business)
  • Project management experience including the ability to facilitate collaboration between MAYA teams and clients, managing budgets, and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with others with different areas of expertise
  • Able to travel up to 25% of the time
